General Information

We used to say that this event was..."a blending of two communities -- artists and friendly,
small-town folk."

With the Herman Iron Pour going into its second decade, I must say that HIP has become a single community of national and international artists coming home to their small-town artist family - truly a global community of old friends and new, gathering to experience the fellowship inherent in the process of making cast iron sculpture.

Come to our festivities and you will experience camping; down-home cooking; a fantastic and funky parade, sculpture contest, and dance; a night iron pour; and the genuine opportunity to make your own cast iron sculpture.

Community Sculpture:
Every year a sculpture is created to be permanently installed in Herman. A gift from the visiting and resident artists to the Herman community and its visitors.

On this site you can see photos of all the community sculptures, or come on by and see them in person.

As always, everyone is invited to help create the community sculpture. No experience necessary, and all the professional assistance you need will be available.

Pam's Porch Gallery:
Open all day, every day, during the pour.

Like a day care center for our cast iron children, Pam's gallery grows every year when we bring our new creations, along with the older siblings, for our friends and neighbors to enjoy.

If you are a HIP alum, bring an earlier HIP creation to display, and don't worry if it's too big for the porch, the stage attached to the granary is available.

Pam will also have photos from past iron pours in books for your viewing pleasure.
